1. Who we are
Retone is an iOS app for rewriting text in 20 writing styles. Data controller: Ashot Tatian, IE, Republic of Armenia.

2. What data we collect
- Email address — if you provided it in the waitlist form.
- Text for processing — the text you enter is sent to an AI server to generate the rewrite. We do not store texts longer than necessary to process the request.
- Anonymous analytics — number of requests, styles chosen, app version. Not linked to your identity.
- Purchase data — processed exclusively through the Apple App Store; we do not receive your card details.
3. Legal bases for processing
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — processing of texts is necessary to provide the rewriting service.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — processing of your email address to notify you about the release is based on your explicit consent when subscribing to the waitlist.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — collecting anonymous analytics to improve the app.
- Federal Law No. 152-FZ ("On Personal Data") — for users in Russia, personal data is processed in accordance with the requirements of Federal Law No. 152-FZ.
4. How we use data
- To process your texts with AI.
- To send a release notification (if you subscribed to the waitlist).
- To improve the app based on anonymous statistics.
- To provide technical support if you contact us.

We do not sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data may be transferred to:

Anthropic, Inc. and Formspree, Inc. are U.S. companies. When you use the app, your data may be transferred to and processed on servers located in the United States. Transfers are carried out in accordance with applicable data protection requirements, including standard contractual clauses for EU users and the requirements of Art. 12 of Federal Law No. 152-FZ for users in Russia.
7. Data retention
Waitlist email addresses are kept until the release notification is sent and are automatically deleted within 30 days afterward, or immediately upon your request. Texts submitted for rewriting are not stored on our servers after the result is returned.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:
- Request information about the data we hold (right of access).
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten).
- Withdraw consent to processing at any time.
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for EU users — your local data protection authority).

9. Security
We use encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to data is restricted and controlled.
10. Children
The app is not intended for individuals under 16 (for EU users in accordance with Art. 8 GDPR) or under 14 (for users in Russia in accordance with 152-FZ). We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
11. Changes to this policy
For material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised version.
